Technical requirements

  • At least 3 months post cessation of your SSRI/SNRI medication

  • Max video length of 10 minutes (Separate clips also possible, as long as they're recorded in the same location)

    • If your video exceeds the maximum length by a a little, do not worry about i

  • Keep the camera as stable as you can and make a portrait (VERTICAL) recording of yourself

Required content

  • Introduce yourself (just mentioning your first name is sufficient, e.g.: ‘My name is Ruben’)

  • Mention that you suffer from PSSD, e.g. say: I suffer from a condition called PSSD (Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction)

  • Mention why you started taking the medication

  • Mention what medication you took (mention at least the brand name of the medication, e.g. Lexapro)

  • Mention how long you took the medication (when you started and when you stopped)

  • Mention how long it has been since last taking the medication / how long have you been off the medication

  • Talk about the symptoms you experienced while on the medication

  • Talk about the symptoms you experienced while quitting, mention if they got worse or not

  • Mention the symptoms that persist to this day

  • Tell your story by giving factual information.

Important notes

  • Try to refer to the symptoms you still have in the present tense, e.g. 'I have emotional blunting', not 'I had emotional blunting'

  • Try to convey your story in a powerful, perhaps emotional way.

  • Avoid just reading off of a piece of paper or a Word document, try to tell your story in your own way, making mistakes is okay, that’s where editing comes in. We recommend that you write down some bullet points and go from there.

Don't:

  • Don’t theorize about PSSD, stick to stating factual information

  • Don’t promote anti-medicine/anti-psychiatry

  • Don’t Promote yourself

  • Don’t graphically describe your sexual symptoms. Stick to the medical terms to describe your problems

  • Avoid using the word 'drugs' and refer to your 'drugs' as medication (social media platforms usually filter heavily based on what is said or written)
